Need regrouting in Forest Green?

Regrouting in Forest Green, done properly

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. If you are dealing with stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor, we can help, on shower walls, wet rooms and tiled floors alike.

Somewhere as small as Forest Green, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

All our work comes with a 12-month guarantee.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower walls

Most regrouting jobs include a shower. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.

Common questions in Forest Green

Can you do regrouting in Forest Green?

Yes, Forest Green is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

I let a flat near Ockley station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.

Where are you based?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Forest Green, along with the rest of our area.

Can new sealant go over the old?

No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.

Can I do it myself?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.

What do you put in the joint?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.

Regrouting in Forest Green: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around Holy Trinity, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Ockley station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

The process

There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area from start to finish. Somewhere like Forest Green needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

Quotes for regrouting in Forest Green

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • The amount of work

Combining jobs into one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

We don’t publish a price list. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To get started, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Check the corner silicone every few months
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Do not ignore a tile that feels loose

Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so it’s generally the first thing to need attention.

Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away, so regrouting early can save a retile.

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

What sealant work cannot fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
