Regrouting for homes and businesses in Fir Toll
Across Fir Toll, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. We work on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and tiled floors, and common reasons people get in touch are kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and grout that makes sound tiles look old.
Somewhere as small as Fir Toll, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

Fir Toll questions
Is Fir Toll within the area you cover?
Yes, Fir Toll is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you work for landlords with property near Pluckley station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Is it worth trying it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, it won’t last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
Our one-year guarantee applies to all our work, and we are fully insured.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll give you a time to follow at the end of the visit.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
How the job changes by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. New grout freshens them up.
Kitchen splashbacks
A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
What happens if it’s left?
Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, and then you’re looking at retiling. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Around Fir Toll, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

What regrouting looks like in Fir Toll
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Schools such as Pluckley Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Homes close to Church of St Nicholas include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

How it works
A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere as small as Fir Toll, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Related advice
Do you need regrouting in Fir Toll?
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
Letting a property close to Pluckley station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What we can’t put right
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking wet room membrane
- Cracked or broken tiles

Should I try it myself first?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
