Regrouting for homes and businesses in Eton Wick

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. If you have good tiles let down by tired grout and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, we can help, whatever the surface.

Homes around Eton Wick are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

Signs you need regrouting in Eton Wick

Grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that is used every day.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob

Letting a property close to Windsor & Eton Central station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Our hiring checklist

When something else is needed

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • Cracked or broken tiles

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think.

What we seal

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms

Should I try it myself first?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What we do, step by step

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room from start to finish. Somewhere as small as Eton Wick, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done
  • Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and let the room air.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone is not enough, so it’s worth acting early.

Common questions in Eton Wick

Will you come out to Eton Wick?

Yes, Eton Wick is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you work in hotels near Eton Wick?

Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.

How long does the job take?

As a guide, most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will tell you how long to expect.

Are you insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, always, and completely. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

Will there be a smell?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.

Do you grout the corners?

Silicone. Grout is for the joints between tiles and moving joints need sealant.

Why it’s worth doing now in Eton Wick

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Around Eton Wick, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
