Regrouting in Dunipace

About our regrouting in Dunipace

We work across Dunipace, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, finished with new silicone at the edges. We work on bathroom floors, tiled floors and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are grout in a colour the owner wants to change and cracked or crumbling grout lines.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

The process

You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room in most cases. For a place like Dunipace, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Dunipace: your questions answered

Can you do regrouting in Dunipace?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Dunipace is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Larbert station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Which products do you use?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or the area where the grout has gone.

Why act early in Dunipace

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

Landlord and commercial work in Dunipace

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.

Letting agents and landlords in Dunipace can book us as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.

Surface by surface

Corners and edges

The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.

Bathroom wall tiles

We can regroute all the walls in a bathroom, depending on the area. You can change the colour at the same time.

Regrouting around Dunipace

Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

If you look after a building such as Denny High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Do you need regrouting in Dunipace?

A poor original job is a common cause. If it was mixed too wet or not pressed in firmly tends to wash out early.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
  • Crumbling grout between the tiles

If you let a flat or house near Larbert station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

10 questions to ask before booking

What affects the quote in Dunipace

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • The amount of work
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • How many areas need sealing
  • When we can work, for business premises

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Helping us quote

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will explain what’s involved.

Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and lets water in.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through, so get it looked at when you notice it.
