What regrouting looks like in Curdridge
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you look after a building such as Curdridge Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Botley station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Regrouting in Curdridge
We work across Curdridge, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, and we finish by resealing the edges. If you’re dealing with splashback grout that has darkened and gaps where the shower grout has gone, we can help.
Being in a small place like Curdridge makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

For landlords and businesses
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Curdridge and across Hampshire. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured for the work.
What we do, step by step
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere as small as Curdridge, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Getting ready for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- A floor or wall that keeps moving
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Surfaces we seal

- Wet rooms
- Kitchen splashbacks
Different surfaces, different methods
Corners and edges
Edges are resealed while we are there, so everything is renewed at once.
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
What happens if it’s left?
Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. A thin skin on top tends to break off. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Around Curdridge, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.

Should I try it myself first?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Looking after it afterwards
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Check the corner silicone every few months
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.
Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.
Your questions about regrouting in Curdridge
Can you do regrouting in Curdridge?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Curdridge is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
Will you come out to Curdridge?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or the area where the grout has gone.
Can you change the grout colour?
Yes. It’s the ideal time to change it. Tell us the colour you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are based in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
We give you a time before we leave. It depends on the grout and the sealant used, so follow the time we give you.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.
