How we handle regrouting in Claddach Kyles
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. You might go from white to grey, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. Common call-outs are for grout stained black or orange that won’t clean and splashback grout that has darkened, across wet rooms, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Claddach Kyles and everywhere else we cover.

What we are called out for in Claddach Kyles
Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that’s hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
Whether the job is in Claddach Kyles itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

What regrouting looks like in Claddach Kyles
Claddach Kyles is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
In and around Claddach Kyles, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.
We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.
What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, including the tidy-up. Around Claddach Kyles, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
How to prepare
- Clear the area around the work
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

When it is not the sealant
To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking wet room membrane
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

How we quote for regrouting
You will get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What to tell us for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The problem you’ve noticed
- The rough size of the job
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that is easy.
FAQs for Claddach Kyles
Do you cover smaller places like Claddach Kyles?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, islands included, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you cover Claddach Kyles for regrouting?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Claddach Kyles is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Will it make a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Regrouting alone is not the answer and we will say so before going ahead.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
You’ll get a clear time from us before we go. The grout and sealant both need to cure before the shower is used.
What information do you need?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
Check the corner silicone now and then. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time, long before the grout does.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
Surface by surface
Bathroom floors
If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We check the tiles before regrouting.
Corners and edges
Edges are resealed while we are there, so the whole area is finished together.
