About our regrouting in Chartham
Across Chartham, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, and we finish by resealing the edges. If you have stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and cracked or crumbling grout lines, we can put it right, on bathroom floors, shower walls and wet rooms alike.
Homes around Chartham are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Surface by surface
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so sound grout really matters. We check the tiles first.
Shower walls
Shower walls get wet every day, so grout there works hardest. It normally fails first.
FAQs for Chartham
Do you cover Chartham for regrouting?
Yes, Chartham is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
I let a flat near Chartham station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what we are using.
Can I do it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Chartham.
How long does regrouting take?
Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we’ll say how long yours will take.
Will it make a mess?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.
When something else is needed
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- A leaking wet room membrane
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Tiled floors
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Bathroom floors
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.
Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.
Why it’s worth doing now in Chartham
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Older cottages and farmhouses around Chartham can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you’re unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Common problems we fix in Chartham
Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, until the joints are rough and low.
The problems people usually mention when they call are:
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Floor grout that will not come clean
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

How the visit works
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere like Chartham needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work

Advice
Bathrooms and kitchens in Chartham
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Rented homes near Chartham station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. If you look after a building such as Chartham Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
