Regrouting in Bridge

Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Just mention the colour you’d like when you ring 0345 464 0079 or email us. We work on bathroom wall tiles, shower walls and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor.

In a village or hamlet like Bridge, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

What happens on the day

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Bridge needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one

We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Bridge

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

What affects the quote in Bridge

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The type of sealant required
  • How easy the joints are to reach

Combining jobs into one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • The type of property
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • The problem you’ve noticed

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll talk you through the work before giving you a price.

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.

Bathroom floors

If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We look for loose tiles first.

Your questions about regrouting in Bridge

Is Bridge in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Bridge is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

I let a flat near Bekesbourne station. Can you help?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we are fully insured.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No, and we never do. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.

Does someone need to be in?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.

Are you insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes, we often do. The shower usually fails first, so many people regrout just that part.

Why act early in Bridge

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Older cottages and farmhouses around Bridge can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

What regrouting looks like in Bridge

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

For landlords with property near Bekesbourne station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Schools such as Bridge and Patrixbourne Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

DIY versus a professional finish

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
