Bray Regrouting
Tiled areas in Bray need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Splashback grout that has darkened
Common problems we fix in Bray
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, and damp grout is where mould grows. When black spots keep returning, the mould has usually got into the grout.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
For an older house near a landmark such as St Michael's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Bray
Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We work on bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and shower walls, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked or crumbling grout lines and gaps where the shower grout has gone.
In a village or hamlet like Bray, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

More about regrouting
What regrouting looks like in Bray
Bray has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Schools such as Dorney School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near Taplow station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
Bray is about 2 miles south-east of Maidenhead, in Windsor and Maidenhead. Bray gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Across Windsor and Maidenhead, we cover 57 places, Bray among them. Our Reading page covers work nearby.
All of SL6 is covered for regrouting. If you need regrouting at a property on High Street, Old Mill Lane and Beaufort Place or a nearby road, we can help. Surface by surface
Wet rooms
In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so good grout is important. We check the tiles first.
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
Common questions in Bray
Do you work for landlords with property near Taplow station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Do you cover smaller places like Bray?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
What should I tell you?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few photos.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Flexible sealant. Grout belongs between the tiles and moving joints need sealant.
Is it worth trying it myself?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new joint bonds to clean surfaces.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.
What we cannot put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- A leaking shower valve or waste
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Keeping the joints in good condition
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
- Keep the fan on after showering
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting won’t fix it so early action pays.
How it works
There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room for a typical job. In a small place like Bray, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

Should I try it myself first?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Leave it or put it right?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but mould that has got into grout normally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Older cottages and farmhouses around Bray can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are unsure, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
