How we handle regrouting in Bledlow

Regrouting is normally paired with resealing. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. If you have cracked grout along the bath or tray and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean, we can help.

Being in a small place like Bledlow makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Bledlow as everywhere else we work.

Bledlow questions

Do you cover Bledlow for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Bledlow is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Bledlow?

Yes, Bledlow is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Which products do you use?

It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, every time. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, and we are fully insured.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Does someone need to be in?

That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

What we are called out for in Bledlow

Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it over time, leaving the joints sunken and rough.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up

If you live in an older home near Church of the Holy Trinity, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What affects the quote in Bledlow

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Access and height

We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The type of property
  • If someone has resealed it before

Want a quote for regrouting? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the job. We will explain what we’d do and send you a clear quote before any work starts.

Aftercare tips

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:

  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Stains that won’t clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward while the tiles are still sound.

Why deal with it now?

Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away, taking any repair with it. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Bledlow, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before we start, so you know where you stand.

Can I do it myself?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

How it works

When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. The work normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a village or hamlet like Bledlow, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

Preparing for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
