Keeping the joints in good condition

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Keep the fan on after showering

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

Regrouting in Awbridge

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so nothing is ripped out. If you have grout that makes sound tiles look old and old grout in a dated colour, we can help.

Homes around Awbridge are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Awbridge and across Hampshire.

Regrouting in Awbridge: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Awbridge Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. In the older streets around Church of All Saints, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Mottisfont & Dunbridge station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Your questions about regrouting in Awbridge

Do you cover Awbridge for regrouting?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Awbridge is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.

Will you come out to Awbridge?

Yes, Awbridge is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

When can I use the shower again?

It varies with the products and the room. We’ll give you a time to follow when the job is done.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.

How long does regrouting take?

It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. We’ll tell you when we quote.

When something else is needed

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before booking.

What we seal

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms

Quotes for regrouting in Awbridge

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The rough size of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How the job changes by surface

Shower walls

Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.

Corners and edges

We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so everything is renewed at once.

Why deal with it now?

Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and often a few days without a shower. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Older cottages and farmhouses around Awbridge can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

Why us?

  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme
  • Tidy, careful work
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • We never seal over old sealant

The process

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on. The job normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere as small as Awbridge, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice

Can I do it myself?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
