Bathroom resealing in GU7: how it works
A bead that has gone black, split or come away shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. A photo of the joints helps when you ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email, and we’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts. Common call-outs are for new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and mouldy sealant that has gone black, across wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and sinks & splashbacks.
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we’re working on. Expect the work to take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
What you will pay
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

Around Godalming
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to St Hilary's School, Moss Lane School and Phillips Memorial Park and the streets around them. Nearby too are St Edmund Church (less than half a mile south-west), The Richmond Arms Public House (less than half a mile west) and Godalming College (0.5 miles south). There’s a railway station in Godalming itself: Godalming station. A little further out are Guildford Castle (3.9 miles north-east) and Godalming Museum (under half a mile north). Not far away are Frith Hill and Farncombe Wood.
Where we work in GU7
In GU7, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, in Godalming, Farncombe and Aaron's Hill and well beyond. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
From Victorian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates, homes across the South East and London cover every era. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building.
Godalming: Homes close to St Edmund Church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you look after a building such as Moss Lane School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Common problems we fix in GU7
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that isn’t fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
Quotes for bathroom resealing in GU7
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The type of sealant required
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The size of the job
Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.
What to tell us for a quote
To make quoting easier, please include:
- The type of property
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
To get a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before we start.
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. Proper degreasing is what helps the new joint last.
Baths
Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.
GU7 questions
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes. Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, and we are fully insured.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. Fresh silicone can’t stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. We always take the old sealant out completely.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Is there any odour?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Ventilation helps.
How long will the resealing take?
One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, including cutting out the old sealant. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.
Is it messy?
Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
