Our bathroom resealing service in AB44

We fill the bath before sealing it. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We work on sinks & splashbacks, kitchen worktops & upstands and baths, and the jobs we see most are damp behind the bath or under the tray and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal.

A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

How we quote

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Bathroom resealing across AB44: local notes

Our bathroom resealing work across AB44 covers homes, rentals and businesses, in Macduff and well beyond. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Homes in Scotland come with their own details: sash and case windows, harled walls and, in the towns and cities, tenement flats. We work across Scotland, including AB44.

Macduff: For an older house near a landmark such as Gardner Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Schools such as Banff Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What affects the quote in AB44

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The product the joint needs
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How easy the joints are to reach

Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The type of property
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What sealant work cannot fix

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported

Why it fails

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.

The problems people normally mention when they call are:

  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

Can I do it myself?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

For landlords and businesses

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in AB44 and across Aberdeenshire. We can quote a run of properties together.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in AB44

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

What should I tell you?

Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.

Where are you based?

Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. We always take the old sealant out completely.

What does bathroom resealing cost?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.
