FAQs for Ningwood

Will you come out to Ningwood?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is there a guarantee on new build mastic in Ningwood?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you work for developers?

Yes. We work through plots to your schedule, room by room. Tell us the plots and the joints involved for a clear quote.

How long does the job take?

Typically it takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will say how long yours will take.

Will it make a mess?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient.

How long should I leave it?

Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We’ll give you the cure time for the product we used.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Surface by surface

Show homes

Tired or marked sealant in a show home can be renewed. The old bead comes out and a clean new one goes in.

Bathrooms and en suites

Shower trays in new homes often move slightly in the first year. The joint is stripped back before the new bead goes in with baths filled first.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

What happens on the day

We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on the number of plots, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere as small as Ningwood, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First we work through your snagging list or plot schedule with you.
  2. The old bead comes out in full, with no layer left behind.
  3. We clean off dust from the build and prime the surfaces where the product needs it.
  4. New sealant suited to each joint is applied and tooled neatly.
  5. Each area is checked and left with its cure time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the work
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

How to get a quote

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wait for the cure time before using a resealed shower
  • Wipe joints with warm soapy water
  • Record problems with dated photos
  • Put sealant faults on your snagging list early

Follow the cure time we give you before the area gets wet. Most silicones need around a day to cure enough for use.

Leave a failed new-build seal and water can reach the floor and the ceiling below. Catching it early keeps the fix to the sealant and the new finishes intact.

When something else is needed

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:

  • Cracking that points to a structural problem
  • Cracked trays, tiles or worktops
  • Movement caused by a poorly fitted tray or bath

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Skirting & floors
  • Show homes
  • Kitchens
  • Plot handovers
  • Bathrooms & en suites
  • Windows & doors

When to call us in Ningwood

Not every new-build joint gets the right sealant: decorators’ caulk in a wet area, or a stiff sealant where there’s movement. Both fail early.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • New-build shower sealant that has already split
  • Joints pulling apart as timber shrinks
  • Skirting joints opening in the first winter
  • Untidy sealant flagged on a snagging list

In and around Ningwood, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What new build mastic looks like in Ningwood

Ningwood is within about 2 miles of the coast. New homes near the sea put their outside mastic to work from day one, so it’s worth checking at snagging. Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.

For jobs in and around Ningwood, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

Why it’s worth doing now in Ningwood

A failed shower or bath seal in a new home lets water into floors and walls that are still drying out. Resealing promptly protects the new finishes around it. Around Ningwood, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.
