How it works
You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access for a typical job. Somewhere like Way needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- The joint is dried, because sealant will not bond to a wet surface.
- An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
Before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any parking rules near the property

Advice
How we handle gutter sealing in Way
We work across Way on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Low-level work is straightforward, and for higher work, tell us about access and we’ll confirm what’s needed. If you’re dealing with drips from gutter joints and end caps and streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Somewhere as small as Way, homes and farm buildings often face open ground, so walls and rooflines take the full force of wind and rain. Gutter joints and wall joints there need a sealant that can flex and stay put.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

What gutter sealing looks like in Way
Way is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
Schools such as Minster Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. In the older streets around Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

Way: your questions answered
Will you come out to Way?
Yes. Way is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
I let a flat near Minster station. Can you help?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Will it make a mess?
No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
What do you put in the joint?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and you’ll get one quote.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
Do you install new fascias or gutters?
No. Our work is sealing joints; replacing gutters and fascias needs a gutter or roofline installer.
How to look after the new joints
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Water left in a gutter tests every joint.
The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We will let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.
DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Why deal with it now?
Replacing guttering is a much bigger job than sealing joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint a reseal is all it needs. If it has failed, we’ll tell you. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Way, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

Different surfaces, different methods
Gutter end caps
We seal end caps from the inside where we can reach, after cleaning and drying.
Garage door frames
Failed sealant around a garage door frame lets water in. It’s removed and renewed.
What we’re called out for in Way
Leaves and moss hold water in the gutter. Water that can’t drain works its way through a weak joint and leaks out.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
- Water dripping where gutter sections meet
- End caps that drip every time it rains
Letting a property close to Minster station? Then leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.
