Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Watermead

We work across Watermead on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Low-level work is straightforward and if it’s higher up, let us know and we’ll confirm what access is needed. If you have failed sealant on a garage door frame and end caps that drip every time it rains, we can put it right.

Around Watermead, garages, outbuildings and extensions all add to the joints on the outside of a home. Leaks normally start at a gutter end, a garage door frame or where an extension meets the house.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Buckinghamshire.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage several properties in or around Watermead, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and pictures by email help.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured.

Leave it or put it right?

If the problem is a blocked downpipe, sealing will not help. We look at what’s really happening and tell you if something else is needed. In an older home around Watermead, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Keep downpipes clear
  • Get a dropping gutter looked at quickly
  • Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters

Leave the new sealant to cure as we advise before poking or cleaning near it.

A leaking stop end is best sealed before the wet months. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp inside.

Outside joints around Watermead

The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.

Schools such as St Louis Catholic Primary School are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. Rented homes near Aylesbury station change hands often, and a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.

Watermead: your questions answered

I let a flat near Aylesbury station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Watermead?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Should I try DIY first?

It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?

Yes. Open joints along uPVC fascias and soffits can be sealed in a colour to suit.

Do I need to be at home?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

In most cases, yes. If the gutter is sagging or cracked, sealing won’t last and we will say so.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

What we are called out for in Watermead

Water spilling over a blocked gutter is often mistaken for a leak. If the downpipe is blocked, water has nowhere to go so we check the cause first.

Look out for these signs:

  • Old gutter sealant that has let go
  • Trim joints where the sealant has failed
  • Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
  • Water running down the wall below the gutter

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St James, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

What to look for in a quote

  • What guarantee comes with the work
  • How hidden problems are handled
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint

When something else is needed

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Fascias that need replacing
  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)

If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Soffit joints
  • uPVC fascias
  • Gutter end caps
  • Roofline trims
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints

Should I try it myself first?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. We protect the surfaces around the joints before we start. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. For a job in Watermead, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. The joints are dried.
  4. We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
  5. The joints are checked once sealed.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the work
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
