Uig Gutter Sealing
Sealing leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascias, soffits and roofline trims for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Uig. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Failed sealant on a garage door frame
Why act early in Uig
Sealing over a dirty, wet joint is a quick fix that rarely lasts, but it soon lets go. Proper preparation is the difference. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first.
Why us?
- Domestic, commercial and hotel work
- Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
- We never seal over old sealant

Gutter sealing in Uig, done properly
It’s easy to live with a dripping gutter joint, but each shower sends water to the same place. Resealing it is a small job while the gutter is still sound. If you have leaking gutter joints and stop ends and streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint, we can help, on garage door frames, uPVC fascias and roofline trims alike.
Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Different surfaces, different methods
Gutter joints
A dripping joint doesn’t always mean a failed gutter. Sealing the joint often stops it.
Soffit joints
We choose a sealant colour that suits the soffit.
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Your questions about gutter sealing in Uig
Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Uig any different?
Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. The right product, a clean joint and the right depth all help it cope.
Can you do gutter sealing in Uig?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Uig is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
Will you leave a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints.
Do the sealants smell?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
What guarantee comes with the job?
You get our one-year guarantee to all our work.
How long does the job take?
Typically it takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Larger jobs naturally take longer.
How long before the joint can be used?
Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We’ll tell you how long to leave the joint before we leave.
For landlords and businesses
Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together, and we’re fully insured.
For anyone letting property in or around Uig, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.
What sealant work cannot fix
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before work begins. It will not solve:
- Rotten or damaged fascia boards
- Gutters that have dropped or pulled away
- Problems with the roof covering
If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Uig buildings and the weather
Uig is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Uig Primary School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s. In the older streets around Church of Scotland, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain.
Uig is in Highland. Homes, rented property, offices and hotels in Uig is covered for gutter sealing, old or new, large or small. The work is guaranteed for a year. Across Highland, we cover 253 places, and Uig is one of them.
We cover every part of IV51 for gutter sealing and the streets around it. If you need gutter sealing at a property on Park Terrace, Rha Bank and Corbett Terrace or a nearby road, our applicators can take on the job. Neighbouring places we cover for gutter sealing include Staffin (6 miles east), Clachamish (7 miles south), Kilmaluag (7 miles north-east), An t-Aodann Ban (9 miles south) and Kilmuir (13 miles south-west). For island and remote addresses, a little more planning is needed.

The process
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. For a place like Uig, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
- We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
- We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
- We check the run and clear debris near the joints.
How to prepare
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

How we quote for gutter sealing
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- The type of sealant required
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Any mould that needs treating
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.
What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Roughly how big the job is
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- The address or postcode of the job
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.
