Gutter sealing in Jordans
Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. We seal them in a colour to suit where possible. We work on gutter end caps, garage door frames and gutter joints, and the jobs we see most are open joints in fascias and soffits and water dripping where gutter sections meet.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Jordans is booked around the forecast. Let us know about access to every wall, plus any garages or outbuildings.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

How the visit works
Once we’re on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Somewhere like Jordans needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.
Preparing for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Move anything stored near the joints

Advice
Should I try it myself first?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Walls and rooflines in Jordans
With historic houses such as Chenies Manor House (about 5 miles north-east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Jordans as well as newer homes. Where a home is older, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material. London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
Letting a property close to Seer Green & Jordans station? Then a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside. Schools such as Jordans School are buildings too, and larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

Different surfaces, different methods
Roofline trims
We seal the trims, not the roof. Roofing problems need a roofer.
Gutter end caps
End caps take the pressure of water running along the gutter. When their seal fails, they drip.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Look along the fascias for open joints
- Sort out a dripping joint early
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Standing water strains every seal.
Early sealing limits how much water hits the wall. If we find a bigger problem, we’ll tell you.
Do you need gutter sealing in Jordans?
Stop ends take pressure from water running along the gutter. If the seal fails, water escapes at the end and runs down the wall.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Dripping gutter ends
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
- Garage door frames letting rain in
If you live in an older home near Church of Holy Trinity, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.
Before you book anyone
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- What guarantee comes with the work
- When the joint can take water or movement
