Quotes for gutter sealing in Hook Park Estate

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • The type of sealant required
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How many areas need sealing

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

What we need to know

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

We don’t publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Gutter sealing in Hook Park Estate

Sealant only bonds to a clean, dry joint. That is why we take out the old sealant and dirt first and the joint is dried before the new sealant goes in. We work on roofline trims, uPVC fascias and gutter joints, and the jobs we see most are water dripping where gutter sections meet and water running down the wall below the gutter.

Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Hook Park Estate is booked around the forecast. Tell us about access to all sides of the building, including outbuildings and garages.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

When to call us in Hook Park Estate

Debris in the gutter keeps water sitting at the joints. Water that cannot drain works its way through a weak joint and leaks out.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Fascia boards with gaps between them
  • Water dripping where gutter sections meet
  • Rain getting in around a garage door
  • Cracked sealant along roofline trims

Homes close to Church of St Mary include some older properties, and an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain.

What to look for in a quote

  • What insurance they hold
  • How the colour is chosen
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant

How the visit works

At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The visit itself generally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, depending on how much there is to do. For a village or hamlet like Hook Park Estate, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First we agree which joints need sealing.
  2. Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
  3. The joints are dried.
  4. We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
  5. The joints are checked once sealed.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

Outside joints around Hook Park Estate

Hook Park Estate is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.

Schools such as Hook-With-Warsash Church of England Academy are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. For landlords with property near Hamble station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

Questions from Hook Park Estate

Is Hook Park Estate within the area you cover?

Yes. Hook Park Estate is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Hook Park Estate any different?

Near the sea, outside joints face more wind, rain and salt than they would inland, so the choice of sealant and the preparation matter even more. Walls facing the sea are usually the first to need attention.

Where are you based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Will it make a mess?

Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Can you seal fascia and soffit joints?

Yes. Open joints along uPVC fascias and soffits can be sealed in a colour to suit.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll give you a quote.

How to look after the new joints

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
  • Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
  • Keep downpipes clear
  • Clean out the gutters once or twice a year

Give the sealant the cure time we tell you and avoid disturbing it.

The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We’ll let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.

What sealant work cannot fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Boards that have decayed or split
  • Water backing up from a blocked pipe
  • Brackets that have snapped or loosened

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Roofline trims
  • Garage door frames
  • Soffit joints
  • Gutter joints
  • uPVC fascias
  • Gutter end caps

Should I try it myself first?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
