Gutter sealing in Halton
Garage door frames let rain in when the sealant around them fails. We cut out the old sealant and reseal the frame with an exterior sealant. We work on soffit joints, gutter joints and garage door frames, and common reasons people get in touch are stop ends leaking at the end of a run and damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Halton is booked around the forecast. Let us know about access to every wall, plus any garages or outbuildings.
You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Halton as everywhere else we work.

What we can’t put right
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Downpipes that are blocked or broken
- Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What the job involves on each surface
Gutter joints
Most gutter leaks start at a joint between sections. They’re cleaned out, dried and resealed.
Soffit joints
Open soffit joints let draughts in. A neat seal closes them.
Why act early in Halton
A new garage door is not needed for a leaking frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough, if the frame itself is sound. Around Halton, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

What we’re called out for in Halton
Sealant on fascias and trims weathers like any outdoor joint. It hardens, shrinks and splits over time.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Garage door frames letting rain in
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
Letting a property close to Wendover station? Then a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
Questions to ask before booking
- How much experience the applicator has
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first

Outside joints around Halton
Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. Historic houses like Cholesbury Manor House (about 3.9 miles south-east) are a reminder that the area around Halton has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Michael and All Angels, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. Managing a site like Halton Community Combined School? Then larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

Common questions in Halton
Do you work for landlords with property near Wendover station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is Halton in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes, Halton is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.
How long should I leave it?
Cure times vary by product and the conditions. Before we leave, we’ll tell you the cure time.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
How long does the job take?
That depends on how much there is to do, but as a guide it takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. We’ll tell you when we quote.
Is gutter cleaning part of the job?
We clear debris near the joints, so the sealant can bond. Cleaning the whole run is a separate job.
The process
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take anything from an hour or two to a few hours. Somewhere like Halton needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- The joint is dried, because sealant will not bond to a wet surface.
- An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Mention any tricky access

Advice
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.
