Gutter sealing in Glengarnock, done properly
Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits, along with roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints, not replacing the gutter. If you have damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter and streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint, we can help.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Glengarnock depends on the weather. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

What we cannot put right
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Brackets that have snapped or loosened
- Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)
- Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Gutter joints
- uPVC fascias
- Gutter end caps
- Soffit joints
- Roofline trims
- Garage door frames
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Quotes for gutter sealing in Glengarnock
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- The product the joint needs
- The amount of work
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Access and height
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Asking for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- If someone has resealed it before
- The type of property
- A few photos by email, if you can
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details.
What happens if it’s left?
Sealant will not clear a blocked downpipe. We look at what’s really happening and point you to the right trade if needed. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Combining jobs into one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.

Surface by surface
Soffit joints
Open soffit joints let draughts in. We close them with a suitable sealant.
Garage door frames
Frame-to-brick joints face the weather. An exterior sealant suits them.
Outside joints around Glengarnock
Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that.
For an older house near a landmark such as Kilbirnie Auld Kirk, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. For landlords with property near Glengarnock station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

The process
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before work begins. Most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Outside jobs in Glengarnock need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- First we agree which joints need sealing.
- We clean out each joint.
- The joints are dried.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- We check our work before we leave.
Preparing for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice
Glengarnock questions
Do you cover smaller places like Glengarnock?
Yes, Glengarnock is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you do gutter sealing in Glengarnock?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Glengarnock is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
What information do you need?
A short description and the location, with pictures by email if possible. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, every time. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Is it messy?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Is sealing fascia joints something you do?
Yes, it’s a common job. The gaps are cleaned and sealed neatly with a suitable exterior sealant.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
How long will you be here?
A typical job takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
- Check the gutters during heavy rain
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Get leaks sealed before the wet months
Give the sealant the cure time we tell you and avoid disturbing it.
Once roofline sealant splits, water can get behind it. Resealing early protects the boards and the wall below.
