Gutter sealing in Cromarty
Gutter and fascia replacement isn’t our trade, and nor is roofing. What sealant does is close joints; it will not fix a broken bracket, a cracked section or a blocked downpipe. Typical jobs include failed sealant on a garage door frame and dripping gutter ends, across uPVC fascias, gutter end caps and roofline trims.
Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. On newer homes, the movement joints and roofline trims are what need watching.
We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

Aftercare tips
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Keep downpipes clear
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
- Don’t lean ladders against the gutter itself
Make sure downpipes aren’t blocked so the gutter can drain. A blocked pipe backs water up to the joints.
Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry.
What the job involves on each surface
Garage door frames
A fresh seal around the frame stops rain getting in.
Roofline trims
Sealing roofline trims is joint work only. Roofing problems need a roofer.
Why act early in Cromarty
Replacing fascias because of open joints is usually unnecessary. Sealing the joints tidies them up as long as the boards are in good condition. Around Cromarty, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Why book with us
- Old sealant always removed completely
- White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
- Domestic, commercial and hotel work
- We are fully insured
Read our cost guide and our reviews.
When it is not the sealant
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:
- Blocked downpipes
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
- Guttering that needs replacing

What we do, step by step
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access and we leave things clean and tidy. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.
- We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
- The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
- We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
- A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We check the run and clear debris near the joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Tell us if parking is tricky

Gutter sealing in Cromarty: local notes
Cromarty is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
Whether the job is in Cromarty itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

What we’re called out for in Cromarty
Debris in the gutter keeps water sitting at the joints. Standing water finds the weakest joint and drips through.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
In and around Cromarty, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

FAQs for Cromarty
Do you cover Cromarty for gutter sealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Cromarty is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Cromarty?
Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. It’s worth checking the walls that face the sea first.
Will you clear out my gutters?
The joints we seal are cleaned out and clear debris we find nearby. A full gutter clean is a separate service.
Where are you based?
Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Do you replace gutters or fascias?
That’s not something we do. Our work is sealing joints and replacement is a job for an installer.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Can sealant stop a sagging gutter leaking?
Sealant will not hold a sagging gutter. A gutter installer needs to refix it.
