Book gutter sealing in Clynelish

Clynelish: your questions answered

Will you come out to Clynelish?

Yes. Clynelish is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Brora station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

What about gutters on a second or third storey?

That depends on the building. Tell us the height and what’s around the gutter and we will confirm what’s needed.

Is the work guaranteed?

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, gutter and fascia work included.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

Most of the time. A sagging or cracked gutter needs more than sealant and we’ll say so.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.

Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?

Sealing a sagging joint will not last. A gutter installer needs to refix it.

Gutter sealing in Clynelish

Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. They’re sealed in a matching colour where possible. Common call-outs are for trim joints where the sealant has failed and end caps that drip every time it rains, on gutter end caps, gutter joints and uPVC fascias.

External sealant needs dry surfaces, so outdoor work around Clynelish is planned around the weather. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.

All our work is covered by a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in Highland.

Looking after it afterwards

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Check the gutters during heavy rain
  • Get leaks sealed before the wet months
  • Don’t leave a sagging gutter
  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters

Leave the new sealant to cure as we advise and avoid disturbing it.

A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it while the frame is sound.

Leave it or put it right?

Leaving a leaking end cap can send water down the wall all winter. It’s a small job to put right before the damage spreads. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Blocked downpipes
  • Sagging gutters or broken brackets
  • A gutter length that has split

If you’re not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints
  • uPVC fascias
  • Gutter end caps
  • Roofline trims
  • Soffit joints

Common problems we fix in Clynelish

When a gutter sags, its joints open. Sealing won’t hold if the gutter keeps dropping so the brackets need attention first.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last
  • Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
  • Open joints in fascias and soffits
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint

If you let a flat or house near Brora station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the guarantee is
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • How hidden problems are handled

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

What gutter sealing looks like in Clynelish

Clynelish is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.

Around Clynelish, as everywhere, gutter sealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Clynelish is about 30 miles north of Forres, in Highland. Anywhere in KW9, we can carry out gutter sealing at your property. Our Highland coverage runs to 253 places, Clynelish among them.

Our applicators cover all of the KW9 postcode area for gutter sealing and the streets around it. We cover properties on Victoria Road, Braambury Road and Clynelish Road. If you’re just outside Clynelish, we cover Dalchalm (1 mile north-east), Brora (1 mile south), Golspie (6 miles south-west), Littleferry (8 miles south-west) and Embo (9 miles south-west). If you are somewhere remote, a little more planning is needed, so mention it when you ask for a quote.

What we do, step by step

At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access, depending on the size of the job. Outdoor work around Clynelish depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
