Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Backburn
Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits, along with roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints, not replacing the gutter. If you are dealing with quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last and fascia boards with gaps between them, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
Big or small, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

Why deal with it now?
You do not need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough, if the frame itself is sound. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Make sure downpipes aren’t blocked
- Sort out a dripping joint early
- Rest ladders on the wall, not the gutter
- Watch for drips in a downpour
Check the joints after heavy rain. It’s the easiest time to see a leak.
Once roofline sealant splits, water can get behind it. Resealing early protects the boards and the wall below.
What affects the cost of gutter sealing
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- Any mould that needs treating
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Whether the work is at height
- When we can work, for business premises
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before work begins.
Asking for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- The address or postcode of the job
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Backburn
I let a flat near Huntly station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Will you come out to Backburn?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Will sealing fix a sagging gutter?
Not for long. The movement opens the joint again so the gutter has to be refixed first.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We work from Crawley. We cover Backburn and the rest of Aberdeenshire.
Can you reach high gutters?
Single-storey and low-level gutters are straightforward. If it’s higher up, let us know and we will confirm the access.
Is there any odour?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient.
Do you guarantee gutter sealing?
All our work carries a 12-month guarantee, and we are fully insured.
How the job changes by surface
Soffit joints
Soffits sit under the eaves, where joints can open up. They’re sealed to tidy the line.
Roofline trims
Trim joints are cut out and resealed suited to the material.
What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, including the tidy-up. For a place like Backburn, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
- The joint is dried, because sealant will not bond to a wet surface.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
Ask for a quote
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that’s easy.

Can I do it myself?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
Gutter sealing in Backburn: local notes
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that. Historic houses like Leith Hall (about 2.8 miles south) are a reminder that the area around Backburn has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.
Homes close to St Andrew's Parish Church include some older properties, and older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. Letting a property close to Huntly station? Then a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
