Trusted glazing silicone in Whiting Bay

Glazing silicone for homes and businesses in Whiting Bay

Not every silicone suits glass. We use a neutral-cure glazing silicone that is suited to glass and the frame, and we tool it to a neat, even finish. We’re often asked to deal with water running down inside the glass and a quick top-up bead that didn’t last, on shower screens, glass-to-frame joints and glass-to-glass joints.

Outdoor sealant needs a dry surface, so window work around Whiting Bay is planned around the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Let us know about access to every frame, including any upstairs.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

How we quote for glazing silicone

You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • The type of sealant required

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll talk you through it.

Helping us quote

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • The rough size of the job
  • Where the property is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where. Photos by email help us understand the job.

How it works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we have agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, depending on how many joints need doing. Outdoor work around Whiting Bay depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We start by finding the leak and making sure sealant is the cause.
  2. Old silicone is cut away from the glass and frame without scratching either.
  3. The glass and frame are cleaned and degreased.
  4. New glazing silicone goes in and is tooled to a neat finish.
  5. We check the joints and, where safe, run water over them.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

How to get a quote

There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Advice

Frames and glazing around Whiting Bay

Whiting Bay is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on glazing joints and frame seals, especially on the side facing the sea. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.

Schools such as Whiting Bay Primar School are buildings too, and its window and door frames need their mastic kept sound, just like a home’s. Homes close to Former Parish Church include some older properties, and the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall.

Different surfaces, different methods

Rooflights

Rooflight glazing joints are cut out and renewed. If the leak is from the roof around it, a roofer needs to look.

Shower screens

Most shower screen leaks come from the wall or tray joint. Both are resealed with anti-fungal silicone.

Why act early in Whiting Bay

Dealing with a leaking shower screen early protects the floor and ceiling. Water from a failed joint can soak into the floor before it shows. In a place like Whiting Bay, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Why us?

  • You choose the colour before work begins
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas
  • One-year guarantee on every job
  • ARBOMaster approved applicator

Landlord and commercial work in Whiting Bay

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together.

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Common questions in Whiting Bay

Will you come out to Whiting Bay?

Yes, Whiting Bay is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is glazing silicone in a coastal place like Whiting Bay any different?

Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. It’s worth checking the walls that face the sea first.

Will resealing stop my conservatory leaking?

In many cases, as long as sealant is the cause. We find where the water gets in first before any sealing.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Which silicone is used for glass joints?

A glazing silicone chosen for the joint. Neutral-cure silicone is the usual choice, as some acetoxy types can attack certain metals.

How long before the joint can be used?

Different products cure at different speeds, so follow the cure time we give you.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Is it possible to redo the silicone on a shower screen?

We can. The old bead comes off without marking the glass, and the joints are cleaned and resealed.
