Glazing silicone in Lovedean

About our glazing silicone in Lovedean

A frameless shower screen depends on its silicone. Leaks usually come from the wall joint or the tray joint, and we reseal both. We’re often asked to deal with water escaping where a screen meets the wall and a quick top-up bead that didn’t last, across conservatory frames, glass-to-glass joints and glass-to-frame joints.

Somewhere as small as Lovedean, older homes often have timber frames set in stone or brickwork. Not every older frame suits a modern silicone bead, and sometimes a traditional sand mastic is the better choice.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower screens

Most shower screen leaks come from the wall or tray joint. We reseal both with anti-fungal silicone.

Conservatory frames

Conservatory frame joints are a common source of leaks. We remove the failed sealant and renew it.

Questions from Lovedean

Can you do glazing silicone in Lovedean?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Lovedean is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.

Do you cover smaller places like Lovedean?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do I need to be at home?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

In most cases you can choose. We’ll explain which colours are available.

What information do you need?

A short description and the location, plus photos if you have them. If we need more, we will ask.

Why not top up the existing silicone?

A top-up rarely holds. Fresh silicone will not bond to cured silicone so we take it all out and start clean.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes, regularly. Several properties can go on one quote, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.

What affects the cost of glazing silicone

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Access and height
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What we need to know

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • Whether it’s a home or a business

Need a quote? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

What sealant work can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Rotten or badly damaged frames
  • Cracked or broken glass
  • Failed flashing around a conservatory

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Shower screens
  • Glass-to-glass joints
  • Conservatory frames
  • Rooflights
  • Glass-to-frame joints
  • Glass balustrade bases

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.

What we do, step by step

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating. The job usually takes a few hours, depending on how many joints need doing, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere like Lovedean needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
  2. We cut away the failed silicone.
  3. The surfaces are cleaned with a suitable solvent.
  4. We apply and tool the new silicone.
  5. We inspect the work and test it where we can.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Related advice

Do you need glazing silicone in Lovedean?

The wrong sealant is a common cause. Some products do not bond well to glass and vinegar-smelling acetoxy silicone can attack some metals.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Stained, discoloured glazing silicone
  • Shower screens leaking along the wall or tray
  • Cracked silicone between glass panels
  • Conservatory leaks at frame and glazing joints

Rented homes near Rowlands Castle station change hands often, and glazing joints are worth checking at the end of a tenancy, before a small leak grows.
