Trusted glazing silicone in Caring

Why act early in Caring

Replacing a conservatory roof is major work. If the leak is a failed sealant joint, resealing is far simpler. If it’s the roof itself, we’ll tell you. In a small place like Caring, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Why us?

  • We leave the area clean and tidy
  • Colour picked to suit the job
  • White, clear, grey or another colour, product permitting
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

How we handle glazing silicone in Caring

A frameless shower screen depends on its silicone. The joint down the wall and the one along the tray are common leak points and both get fresh anti-fungal silicone. If you’re dealing with water escaping where a screen meets the wall and water tracking down the inner face of the glass, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Mastic can only go onto a dry, clean joint, so window work in Caring is booked around the forecast. Tell us about access to every side of the house, including upper-floor windows.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Caring: your questions answered

Is Caring in your area for glazing silicone?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Caring is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing.

Is Caring within the area you cover?

Yes. Caring is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

What do you put in the joint?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Is it messy?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Do you seal glass balustrade bases?

We can. We cut out the failed sealant and reseal the base joint with a suitable product.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the product. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.

Can a conservatory leak be sealed?

Often, if the leak is at a sealant joint. We trace the leak first before any sealing.

Can you reseal a frameless shower screen?

We can. The old bead comes off without marking the glass, and the joints are cleaned and resealed.

When something else is needed

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Leaks from the roof covering or flashing (a roofer’s job)
  • A sealed unit that has misted inside
  • A sagging or failing conservatory roof

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Rooflights
  • Shower screens
  • Glass-to-glass joints
  • Conservatory frames
  • Glass balustrade bases

How we quote for glazing silicone

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Any working-time requirements on site

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • The address or postcode of the job

There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To arrange one, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Signs you need glazing silicone in Caring

Glass and frames expand and contract with the temperature at different rates. In time, the sealant splits or pulls away.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A quick top-up bead that didn’t last
  • Shower screens leaking along the wall or tray
  • Water running down inside the glass
  • Mouldy sealant around glass panels

If you look after a building such as Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School, its window and door frames need their mastic kept sound, just like a home’s.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • How long the guarantee is

How it works

There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes anything from an hour or two to most of a day, depending on the size of the job in most cases. Somewhere like Caring needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
  2. Old sealant is removed from the glass and frame.
  3. We clean and prepare the joint.
  4. New glazing silicone goes in and is finished neatly.
  5. We inspect the work and test it where we can.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Aftercare tips

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Use a gentle glass cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Squeegee the shower screen after each use
  • Check the silicone on glass every year or so
  • Ventilate the conservatory to cut condensation

Clear the conservatory gutters regularly so water doesn’t back up against the seals. Blocked gutters can push water where it shouldn’t go.

Damp patches, drips and condensation along a joint are worth checking. The cause may be sealant or another part, and we will tell you which.

Windows and doors in Caring

Historic houses like Stoneacre (about 0.7 miles south-west) are a reminder that the area around Caring has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older frames set in brick or stone need a sealant that suits them, and sometimes that’s traditional sand mastic. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.

For landlords with property near Bearsted station, leaking glazing joints, shower screens or conservatory seals are worth sorting between tenancies. If you live in an older home near St Nicholas's Church, replacement windows fitted into old openings often leave uneven gaps that need backing and a flexible joint.
