Croy questions

Do you cover Croy for floor joint sealing?

Yes, Croy is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Is Croy within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

What causes gaps between the floor and skirting?

Floors and walls move a little with the seasons, and new floors settle. A flexible sealant closes the gap without cracking like caulk.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, always. Each job is guaranteed for twelve months.

How much does floor joint sealing cost in Croy?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we will talk you through it.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.

My floor grout keeps cracking in a line. Can you help?

Often, yes, where it suits the floor. We remove the grout and seal the line with flexible sealant so the floor can move.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Floor joint sealing for homes and businesses in Croy

Every floor moves a little, so its edges need a joint that can flex. Skirting-to-floor gaps, tiled floor joints and concrete joints are all sealed with a sealant suited to the movement and traffic. If you are dealing with grout cracking in a straight line across a floor and gaps opening between the floor and skirting, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Timber frame is common in newer Scottish homes, and it settles over the first years, so skirting and floor joints can open up. Older stone-built homes, meanwhile, often have timber floors that move with the seasons.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Surface by surface

Wet room and bathroom floors

Bathroom floor edges get wet at every clean. A neat silicone joint keeps it out.

Concrete floor joints

We clean concrete joints out thoroughly before sealing first. We fit backing where needed.

Landlord and commercial work in Croy

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Joints and finishes in Croy homes

Across Highland, floors range from older suspended timber floors to concrete slabs in newer homes and commercial units, and each moves in its own way. The joint at the skirting or threshold has to allow for that. Many new homes in Scotland are timber-framed, so skirting and sealant joints can open up as the building settles.

For landlords with property near Inverness Airport station, open skirting and floor joints collect dirt and water, so seal them while the property is empty. Community buildings like Croy Parish Church Of Scotland are part of the picture too: floor and skirting joints in halls and kitchens wear like any others.

DIY versus a professional finish

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

When it is not the sealant

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • Loose, hollow or cracked tiles, which need a tiler
  • Movement too big for a sealant joint
  • Concrete repairs beyond the joint

If you’re not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Commercial floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Concrete floor joints
  • Wet room & bathroom floors
  • Skirting boards
  • Thresholds

How to look after the new joints

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Sweep along the edges of the floor
  • Do not paint over silicone
  • Do not slide heavy items over sealed joints
  • Use a well-wrung mop rather than flooding the floor

Check the joints after the first winter. Small gaps at the ends can be touched up before they spread.

Open skirting gaps let in draughts, dust and sometimes insects. Sealing it keeps the room tidier.

How it works

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours, depending on the length of joint. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We start by checking the floor, the joint and what traffic it takes.
  2. We remove what’s in the joint now.
  3. We vacuum out the joint and add backing where the depth needs setting.
  4. The chosen sealant goes in, coloured to suit the floor.
  5. We tool it neatly and tell you when it can be walked on and cleaned.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

What affects the quote in Croy

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The type of sealant required
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

What we need to know

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. When it suits you, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
