Fire-rated sealant in Goose Green, West Sussex
Our applicators work in Goose Green on intumescent and fire-rated sealant around gaps, frames and service penetrations. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly.
- Fire seals that have cracked with movement
- Open holes round services passing through fire walls
- Gaps filled with a product that isn’t fire-rated
How we quote for fire rated sealant
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- How much there is to do
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start.
Asking for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you’re ready, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
How we handle fire rated sealant in Goose Green
We do not assess buildings or decide what fire stopping is needed; that comes from your fire risk assessor, designer or building control. What we do is apply the right product to that specification, properly and neatly. If you have unsealed gaps where pipes and cables go through a wall and gaps flagged on a fire risk assessment, we can help, on linear gaps, pipe & cable gaps and plasterboard & masonry alike.
For a small place like Goose Green, the journey and timings are agreed in advance, so the job can fit around bookings, guests or opening times where possible.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Questions from Goose Green
Will you come out to Goose Green?
Yes, Goose Green is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
I let a flat near Billingshurst station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Let us know what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
Do you offer different sealant colours?
Yes. White, clear and grey are common, and other colours are available, and we agree the colour with you before work begins.
Can you tell me which gaps need fire stopping?
No. Your fire risk assessor, designer or building control decides that. Our job is applying the sealant to their specification.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.
Which products do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
The process
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on how many gaps there are. For a village or hamlet like Goose Green, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- Before starting, we go through the specification or action list with you.
- We measure every gap and note what it’s in and what passes through.
- Unsuitable material such as ordinary foam or silicone is cut out and the gap cleaned.
- We fit backing where needed and apply the fire-rated sealant to depth.
- Every location is recorded with the product used for your files.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Surface by surface
Door frames
We deal with the gap around the frame, not the door. Doors, seals and closers are for a door specialist and we’ll mention anything we notice.
Plasterboard walls
Plasterboard partitions are common in flats, offices and conversions. The sealant has to be one tested in plasterboard.
What we can’t put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Sign-off of the building, which sits with building control or your assessor
- A wall that isn’t a fire-resisting element to begin with
- Problems with the door itself rather than the gap around the frame
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Linear gaps
- Flats & HMOs
- Plasterboard & masonry
- Service penetrations
- Pipe & cable gaps
- Door frames
Leave it or put it right?
For some gaps, sealant isn’t the right answer and another system is needed. Large holes, cable bundles and plastic pipes can call for batts, collars or wraps. If a gap is not suitable for sealant, we will tell you. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Goose Green, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will talk you through it.

Landlord and commercial work in Goose Green
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.
Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Workplaces and buildings in Goose Green
Workplaces and the common parts of blocks of flats in England need a fire risk assessment under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which is often where open fire-stopping gaps are first noticed. We apply fire-rated sealant to the assessor’s or designer’s specification and the product’s tested details.
For landlords with property near Billingshurst station, new cables or pipes through a fire-resisting wall leave a gap that needs the right sealant. Managing a site like Rydon Community College? Then gaps opened by contractors for new cabling are a common finding in schools and offices. For buildings such as The Parish Church of St Mary, gaps around pipes and cables are worth checking after any building work there.
