Leave it or put it right?

Room by room, the work is quick: it takes a few hours per area, with larger sites planned over several visits. Each area is then left to cure for the time we give you, so planning the order matters more than the hours on site. Older cottages and farmhouses around Wiggonholt can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.

Wiggonholt: your questions answered

I let a flat near Pulborough station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Is Wiggonholt within the area you cover?

Yes. Wiggonholt is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How soon can a room be used after resealing?

Most areas can be used after around 24 hours. We give a cure time for each area.

Do I have to be there?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. More than one area can be quoted together.

Can you send RAMS and insurance details for our site?

Tell us what paperwork your site needs, for example RAMS or insurance details, and we will confirm what we can supply with the quote.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Keep strong chemicals and scourers off the joints
  • Do not leave a failed joint until the next refurbishment
  • Encourage users to squeegee shower walls
  • Book larger programmes for quieter times of year

We give a cure time for every area we finish, which is generally around 24 hours. Pass it on to housekeeping or cleaners so the new sealant isn’t wetted or scrubbed too soon.

It’s easier to plan a programme than to react to failures. We can fit the work around bookings, shifts and opening hours, rather than closed at short notice.

What we do, step by step

Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take a few hours for a single washroom, longer for a whole building. Somewhere like Wiggonholt needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms and agreeing what’s needed.
  2. Working hours are agreed, including early starts or out-of-hours work where it can be arranged.
  3. Each area is protected and stripped of old sealant.
  4. Once dry, every joint is resealed and tooled.
  5. Housekeeping or site staff are told when each area can be used.

Before we arrive

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Advice

What the job involves on each surface

Retail & leisure sites

Retail and leisure sites have washrooms, kitchens and changing areas with sealant to maintain. We can plan around opening hours.

Student & care accommodation

Halls and care homes often have many near-identical bathrooms. A room-by-room programme keeps the job efficient.

Signs you need commercial sealant in Wiggonholt

Plenty of commercial bathrooms have no window at all, so if the fan is weak, steam lingers and the sealant stays damp. That’s when black mould sets into the bead.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Tired sealant in let properties
  • Leaks from showers into rooms or ceilings below
  • Mouldy washroom sealant that staff and guests notice
  • Tired sealant ahead of a health and safety audit

If you let a flat or house near Pulborough station, several rental properties can be resealed on one programme.

How to choose a mastic man

Should I try it myself first?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
