Commercial sealant in Stoer

With over 20 years in sealant work, we’re a fully insured, ARBOMaster approved team. Tell us what paperwork your site needs, such as RAMS or insurance details, and we will confirm what we can supply with the quote. We work on welfare facilities, hotel bathrooms and retail & leisure sites, and common reasons people get in touch are mouldy washroom sealant that staff and guests notice and joints that need doing before an inspection or audit.

For holiday lets, guest houses and community buildings in or near Stoer, the washrooms and kitchens need the same care as any city building, and fire-rated joints should be kept in good order.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Leave it or put it right?

In a building with rooms above rooms, a failed shower seal can soon show on a ceiling below. Then two rooms are out of action, not one. Resealing first is the smaller job. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

Doing several joints on one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

How we quote for commercial sealant

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Whether the work is at height
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Any working-time requirements on site

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.

Commercial sealant in Stoer: local notes

If you run a hotel, guest house or holiday let in a coastal place like Stoer, heavy use in the busy months is hard on washroom and kitchen sealant, and any building work there should leave fire-rated joints made good. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, so landlords with several properties often need sealant work across them all.

For jobs in and around Stoer, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. Around Stoer, as everywhere, commercial sealant is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Stoer is about 38 miles east of Stornoway, in Highland. Wherever you are in the IV27 postcode area, we cover commercial sealant for homes and businesses. Our area takes in 253 places across Highland, large and small.

We cover every part of the IV27 postcode area for commercial sealant and the streets around it. We also cover Stor (1 mile north-east), Lochinver (5 miles south-east), An Druim Beag (6 miles north-east), Scourie More (12 miles north-east) and Scourie (12 miles north-east). Island and remote addresses take a little more planning, so tell us where you are when you ask for a quote.

FAQs for Stoer

Can you do commercial sealant in Stoer?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Stoer is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

Is there a guarantee on commercial sealant in Stoer?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Do you offer different sealant colours?

In most cases you can choose. We’ll explain which colours are available and agree one before work begins.

How long does the job take?

A typical job takes a few hours for a single washroom, longer for a whole building. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.

Will there be a smell?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures, but it fades. Opening a window helps.

Do you work for landlords and letting agents?

Yes. For several properties, we can plan the work as one programme, fitting around access to each property.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How the visit works

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes as long as the scope needs, from one welfare room to a full building, and the area is left clean. Outside jobs in Stoer need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We start with a site walk to agree the rooms and the timing.
  2. Each area is protected and the old sealant cut out completely.
  3. The joints are degreased, treated and left to dry.
  4. Anti-fungal sanitary silicone goes into wet areas, with suitable sealants elsewhere.
  5. Each room is checked and handed back with its cure time.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Let us know about parking restrictions

Advice

How to look after the new joints

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Get split or lifting joints looked at early
  • Ask cleaners to go gently on the silicone
  • Pass on the cure time to whoever cleans the rooms
  • Include the silicone on your room checklists

Keep the extraction running and maintained. In internal bathrooms, a weak or broken fan lets moisture linger, and that’s what keeps mould away.

Black sealant in a staff washroom or guest bathroom draws complaints. Left long enough, it spreads through the bead, and only replacement fixes it.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

What we cannot put right

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • Poor ventilation that keeps bringing mould back
  • Faulty shower valves and leaking traps
  • A shower tray, bath or basin that is cracked or broken

If you’re not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
