Hound Commercial Sealant

- Split sealant where wet room floors meet walls
- Mouldy bathrooms flagged at a tenancy check
- Sealant failing again soon after quick repairs
Commercial sealant in Hound
Commercial work is planned around the building, not the other way round. Rooms can be done one at a time, floor by floor or in batches, and out-of-hours work or early starts can be arranged where it helps. We work on rental portfolios, office washrooms & kitchens and student & care accommodation, and people most often call us about mouldy washroom sealant that staff and guests notice and failed floor-level joints in accessible wet rooms.
Somewhere as small as Hound, commercial jobs tend to be pubs, holiday lets, farm buildings or halls rather than offices. They all have washrooms, kitchens and service openings that need the right sealant.
Every job is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Your questions about commercial sealant in Hound
Is Hound in your area for commercial sealant?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Hound is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Is Hound within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do I have to be there?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you reseal hotel rooms while we stay open?
Usually, yes. We agree the room order and times with your managers, and you’ll know when each room can be used.
What should I tell you?
Let us know what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.
How long does commercial sealant take?
As a guide, most jobs take a few hours per area, with larger sites planned over several visits. Bigger jobs take longer, and we’ll tell you how long to expect.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
What we cannot put right
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- A broken extractor fan behind the mould problem
- Faulty shower valves and leaking traps
- Water damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler or builder
If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
What we seal
- Welfare facilities
- Student & care accommodation
- Office washrooms & kitchens
- Retail & leisure sites
- Hotel bathrooms
- Rental portfolios
What we are called out for in Hound
Commercial buildings settle and move with temperature, and lightweight partitions flex more than masonry. The sealant between walls, trays and fittings absorbs that strain until it tears.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Large numbers of bathrooms needing the same work
- Shower leaks reaching the floor below
- Rental bathrooms that need resealing between tenants
- Repeated reseals that don’t last
Letting a property close to Netley station? Then we can quote for one property or a whole portfolio of rentals.
What your quote should include
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- How hidden problems are handled
- Whether you can choose the colour
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
How the visit works
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a single washroom, longer for a whole building. Somewhere like Hound needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- Tell us the rooms, hours and site rules, and we will plan the programme.
- Tell us what paperwork your site needs, and we confirm what we can supply before we start.
- Old sealant is cut out room by room and joints cleaned and treated.
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone goes into wet areas, with suitable sealant elsewhere.
- Rooms are handed back in order, each with its cure time.
How to prepare
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Mention any parking rules near the property

DIY sealant or a professional job?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Commercial sealant around Hound
If you run a hotel, guest house or holiday let in a coastal place like Hound, busy months put washrooms and kitchens under pressure, so it’s worth checking the sealant before the busiest weeks. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Schools such as The Hamble School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant can be programmed around term times or opening hours. For buildings such as Church of St Mary, any kitchen and washrooms need the same sealant care as any other building.

Keeping the joints in good condition
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Put a squeegee in each shower
- Ask cleaners to go gently on the silicone
- Keep extractor fans working and serviced
- Book larger programmes for quieter times of year
Strong chemicals and scourers wear silicone out faster. Ask cleaners to use mild products and soft cloths on the sealant.
Rooms out of use cost a hotel or landlord money. Catching faults early means they can be put right in a short window, instead of turning into a leak that closes the room.
Why act early in Hound
Before an inspection, audit or busy season, sealant is easy to overlook. Booking it in good time leaves room for the cure time before the visit. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Hound, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Why book with us
- Sealant colour chosen to suit
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- We leave the area clean and tidy
- ARBOMaster approved applicator
