Bathroom resealing in Wolverton

Bathroom resealing in Wolverton, done properly

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands, and common reasons people get in touch are black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and leaks into the floor or ceiling below.

Somewhere as small as Wolverton, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The size of the job
  • Access and height
  • The type of sealant required

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The rough size of the job
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • If someone has resealed it before

Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What happens if it’s left?

Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it normally comes back. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Older cottages and farmhouses around Wolverton can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Combining jobs into one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.

Common questions in Wolverton

Do you cover smaller places like Wolverton?

Yes. Wolverton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Thatcham station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

Should I try DIY first?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

What should I tell you?

Tell us what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.

Where do you work from?

Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

What we do, step by step

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Somewhere as small as Wolverton, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice

What bathroom resealing looks like in Wolverton

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Different surfaces, different methods

Sinks & splashbacks

Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

Shower trays & enclosures

There are generally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

For landlords and businesses

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

If you manage several properties in or around Wolverton, several properties can go on one quote. Send us the addresses and the work at each, and pictures by email help.

When to call us in Wolverton

With age, silicone loses its stretch. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure

Homes close to Church of St Catherine include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What your quote should include

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
