Bathroom resealing in Wissington, done properly

It isn’t only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. Common call-outs are for water getting behind the bath panel and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.

For a small place like Wissington, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

For landlords and businesses

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

Leave it or put it right?

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Wissington, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Wissington

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Letting a property close to Bures station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary Wiston, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Managing a site like Nayland Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

FAQs for Wissington

Will you come out to Wissington?

Yes. Wissington is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you cover Wissington for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Wissington is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Which products do you use?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.

Will you leave a mess?

Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before applying anything new.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

How the visit works

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Somewhere like Wissington needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.

DIY versus a professional finish

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

What we cannot put right

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether the work is at height

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What we need to know

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The rough size of the job
