When to call us in Wecock Farm

With age, silicone loses its stretch. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile

How we handle bathroom resealing in Wecock Farm

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and two layers of silicone, both failing.

Smaller places like Wecock Farm still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Wecock Farm

You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:

  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The size of the job

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.

What we need to know

You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:

  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the property is

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add photos by email if you can.

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then

Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.

Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

Why it’s worth doing now in Wecock Farm

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you don’t see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. Homes in smaller places like Wecock Farm can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Honest limits

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant will not do:

  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms

How the visit works

Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it generally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. For a job in Wecock Farm, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Bathroom resealing around Wecock Farm

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you look after a building such as Woodcroft Primary, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as The Hart Plain Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
