Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Tingewick?
All our work, in Tingewick and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
Allow a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. You’ll know how long to expect before we start.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
What do you put in the joint?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Will there be a smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Opening a window helps.
Bathroom resealing in Tingewick, done properly
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. Every bit of old silicone comes out, down to the thin film left on the tiles, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. Common call-outs are for shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and leaking joints on a shower screen, across wet rooms, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.
In a village or hamlet like Tingewick, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

When something else is needed
It helps to know what we cannot do:

- Failed grout lines across the wall
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

What affects the quote in Tingewick
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The product the joint needs
The cost depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to know:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- Roughly how big the job is
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details, and pictures are welcome.
Keeping the joints in good condition
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning generally won’t remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
When to call us in Tingewick
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary Magdalen, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
Before you book anyone
- What preparation is included
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- Which colour the sealant will be
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
Surface by surface
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so we fill it with water before sealing. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and isn’t torn the first time it’s used.
Can I do it myself?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Managing a site like Royal Latin School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How it works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Somewhere like Tingewick needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
