Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Strood
Across Strood, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. If you have splits where the tray meets the wall and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, we can put it right.
Around Strood, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

Why it’s worth doing now in Strood
A clean new bead makes a room look cared for, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite, and it’s harder to put right later. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Strood, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before we start.
Why choose Mr Mastic in Strood
- Old sealant always removed completely
- ARBOMaster approved applicator
- Sealant colour chosen to suit
- Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
How we quote for bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Any mould that needs treating
- The type of sealant required
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- The type of property
- Photos by email, if that is easy
- How we’d reach the joints
- The problem you’ve noticed
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. Whenever you are ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
What happens on the day
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The visit itself generally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere as small as Strood, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

When something else is needed
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
Keeping the joints in good condition
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Strood?
With age, silicone loses its stretch. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
For an older house near a landmark such as Parish Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
What your quote should include
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- Are they insured?
- What product goes in the joint
Should I try it myself first?
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

What should I tell you?

Is white the only colour available?
White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
