FAQs for Salvington
Will you come out to Salvington?
Yes. Salvington is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is Salvington in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Salvington is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.
What sealant do you use?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re fully insured.
Is it messy?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
About our bathroom resealing in Salvington
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. Typical jobs include shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and black spots spreading through the bead, across shower trays & enclosures, sinks & splashbacks and kitchen worktops & upstands.
In and around Salvington, older properties sit alongside newer ones. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Keeping the joints in good condition
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
How the visit works
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, depending on how much there is to do. For a job in Salvington, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Advice
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
What we are called out for in Salvington
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. An acrylic bath flexes under load, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
Schools such as Durrington Infant School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
What your quote should include
- What happens if the job turns out different
- What preparation is included
- What insurance they hold
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, so it’s cut out and renewed just like a bath joint.

Bathroom resealing in Salvington: local notes
Salvington is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you let a flat or house near West Worthing station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. Homes close to St Symphorian's Church include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

How we quote for bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether the work is at height
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
What to tell us for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- If someone has resealed it before
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and describe the job.
