Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Rye Harbour, East Sussex
Baths, showers and worktops in Rye Harbour need attention? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Black spots spreading through the bead
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Rye Harbour
A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. Common call-outs are for a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and water getting behind the bath panel, on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands.
Around Rye Harbour, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Rye Harbour questions
Is Rye Harbour within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Rye Harbour?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. We cover Rye Harbour and the rest of East Sussex, along with the rest of our area.
Will you leave a mess?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, including cutting out the old sealant. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Do I have to be there?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What we’re called out for in Rye Harbour
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants aren’t made for constant wetting, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. Wet areas call for a sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive.
People normally contact us when they notice one of these:
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
If you look after a building such as Rye College, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What sealant work cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Baths
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.

Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
How the visit works
Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. It generally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Somewhere as small as Rye Harbour, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us about any water getting in
