Can I do it myself?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Bathroom resealing in Romannobridge, done properly

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. If you have a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop, we can help, whatever the surface.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

When it isn’t the sealant

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Common questions in Romannobridge

Can you do bathroom resealing in Romannobridge?

Yes, Romannobridge is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Is bathroom resealing in Romannobridge guaranteed?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

After around 24 hours in most cases. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.

How the job changes by surface

Wet rooms

Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop.

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first.

What to tell us for a quote

Romannobridge homes and their sealant

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

For jobs in and around Romannobridge, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. In and around Romannobridge, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

The process

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The job generally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Around Romannobridge, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Advice

Leave it or put it right?

A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it will not bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
