Need bathroom resealing in Ridgewood?

Can I do it myself?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Ridgewood

A bead that has gone black, split or come away shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. A photo of the joints helps when you ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email, and we’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts. If you are dealing with cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and two layers of silicone, both failing, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

In a smaller place like Ridgewood, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do in a big town.

Common questions in Ridgewood

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Uckfield station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Do you take on hotel work around Ridgewood?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before applying anything new.

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then a colour-matched bead is laid.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.

How the job changes by surface

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Wet rooms

If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.

Bathroom resealing in Ridgewood: local notes

There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Ridgewood. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as Harlands Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Homes close to St Saviour include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Uckfield station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

What we do, step by step

Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. A visit to Ridgewood is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
  2. Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Mention any tricky access

Advice

Keeping the joints in good condition

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Treat the new bead gently when you clean: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Why it’s worth doing now in Ridgewood

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it will not bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows. Around Ridgewood, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
