Need bathroom resealing in Nyetimber?

When it is not the sealant

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Nyetimber

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Nyetimber. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. Common call-outs are for new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and leaks into the floor or ceiling below, across sinks & splashbacks, kitchen worktops & upstands and baths.

Homes around Nyetimber range from older cottages to more recent houses. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Nyetimber and across West Sussex.

Nyetimber: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Nyetimber?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Bognor Regis station?

Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old sealant comes out first.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.

Do I need to be at home?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit.

Why deal with it now?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Around Nyetimber, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Why book with us

  • We are fully insured
  • White, clear, grey or another colour, product permitting
  • Colour picked to suit the job
  • We agree the colour with you first

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The size of the job
  • Any mould that needs treating

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Where the property is
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Photos by email, if that is easy

For bathroom resealing in Nyetimber, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. Tell us what the problem is and where, and you will get a clear quote before work begins.

Keeping the joints in good condition

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

How the visit works

When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work starts. The work usually takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Parking around Nyetimber is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Clear the area around the work
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

What bathroom resealing looks like in Nyetimber

Nyetimber is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Letting a property close to Bognor Regis station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Rose Green Infant School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. In the older streets around The Parish Church of St Thomas A Becket, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
