How we quote for bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The type of sealant required
  • The size of the job
  • When we can work, for business premises

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

You don’t need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Where the property is
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • If someone has resealed it before

Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we will take it from there.

About our bathroom resealing in North Charford

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. Common call-outs are for water getting behind the bath panel and failed sealant on the screen profile, across wet rooms, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

Being in a small place like North Charford makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee in North Charford and across Hampshire.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Landlords and letting agents in North Charford can book us as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What we are called out for in North Charford

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

Schools such as Hale Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Our hiring checklist

North Charford homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Why deal with it now?

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, and the next reseal means two layers to cut out. In a small place like North Charford, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Why North Charford customers choose us

  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
  • Homes, businesses and hotels
  • Tidy, careful work
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

Read what affects the cost or our reviews.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop

Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, and if anything looks wrong, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in North Charford?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Just list everything you need.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No, never. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.

Where do you work from?

We are based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

How long will the resealing take?

Allow a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. You’ll know how long to expect before we start.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. For a village or hamlet like North Charford, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
