How the visit works
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom from start to finish. Somewhere like Lee needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Aftercare tips
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Signs you need bathroom resealing in Lee
Silicone does not last for ever. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Boniface, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
Before you book anyone
- How long to leave it before use
- Which colour the sealant will be
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- How much experience the applicator has
Bathroom resealing in Lee: local notes
Lee is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Letting a property close to Romsey station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. Schools such as Oasis Academy Lord's Hill are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Lee is about 2 miles south of Romsey, in Hampshire. Across the SO51 area, we cover bathroom resealing for homes and businesses. Lee is one of 683 towns and villages in Hampshire we cover for bathroom resealing.
Work in SO51 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. We cover properties on Lee Lane and Lee Church Lane and the roads around them. We also cover Ashfield (1 mile east), Toothill (1 mile east), Upton (1 mile south-east), Nursling (1 mile south-east) and Rownhams (2 miles south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Winchester (10 miles north-east), Eastleigh (6 miles east), Fareham (15 miles south-east), Totton (3 miles south), Chandler's Ford (5 miles north-east) and Hedge End (9 miles east).

Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What do you need from me for a quote?

What colours of sealant can you use?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Opening a window helps.
Surface by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.
