With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across High Earnock. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. If you’re dealing with gaps between the worktop and the wall and two layers of silicone, both failing, we can help.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

When something else is needed
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
What the job involves on each surface
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so both are resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.
What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, depending on the size of the job. Outdoor work around High Earnock depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Move anything stored near the joints

Bathrooms and kitchens in High Earnock
Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Schools such as Earnock High School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.
Why deal with it now?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What we’re called out for in High Earnock
Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that don’t dry out give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
If you let a flat or house near Hamilton West station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
