Bathroom resealing in High Cross

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. If you have mouldy sealant that has gone black and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Homes around High Cross are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

High Cross questions

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Petersfield station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Can you do bathroom resealing in High Cross?

Yes, High Cross is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Are you insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Will you leave a mess?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Do the sealants smell?

That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.

What do you put in the joint?

The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.

What happens if it’s left?

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it cannot stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows. Around High Cross, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

When something else is needed

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

What bathroom resealing looks like in High Cross

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you let a flat or house near Petersfield station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. Schools such as Froxfield Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How it works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. For a village or hamlet like High Cross, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Advice

For landlords and businesses

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.

When to call us in High Cross

Baths and trays move. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, while a poorly supported tray can shift underfoot. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • When the joint can take water or movement
