How the job changes by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and isn’t stretched when it’s used.
Bathroom resealing in Frostlane, done properly
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. If you have shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and leaking joints on a shower screen, we can put it right.
Being in a small place like Frostlane makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Can I do it myself?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Common questions in Frostlane
I let a flat near Netley station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can be quoted together. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details for a clear quote.
Is Frostlane in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Frostlane is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Where do you work from?
Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Do I have to be there?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or as long as we advise for that product.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Ventilation helps.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
What colours of sealant can you use?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
What happens on the day
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere like Frostlane needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice
Quotes for bathroom resealing in Frostlane
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- The type of sealant required
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number and length of the joints
- Working hours on commercial sites
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Asking for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- The address or postcode of the job
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.
When something else is needed
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Move toiletries away from the joint
Do not stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.
Do not wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.

Bathroom resealing around Frostlane
Frostlane is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Waterside Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as St Anne, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. For landlords with property near Netley station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

What happens if it’s left?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Frostlane, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
The cost depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start.
