Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Roughdown, Hampshire
Professional bathroom resealing in and around Roughdown, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a 12-month guarantee.
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
When to call us in Roughdown
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.
The problems people generally mention when they call are:
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
Managing a site like Blackfield Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Roughdown
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. Typical jobs include splits where the tray meets the wall and damp behind the bath or under the tray, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and sinks & splashbacks.
Around Roughdown, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- Access and height
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Any mould that needs treating
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What to tell us for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The rough size of the job
- If someone has resealed it before
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we will come back to you with a quote.
Bathroom resealing in Roughdown: local notes
Roughdown is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you let a flat or house near Netley station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Roughdown is about 3 miles south of Hythe, in Hampshire. FAQs for Roughdown
Will you come out to Roughdown?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you work for landlords with property near Netley station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
It takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
Is white the only colour available?
There’s a choice: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We will talk it through when we quote.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. Working times can be discussed when we quote.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The process
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere like Roughdown needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
How to get a quote
It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

When it is not the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we seal
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Basins & vanity units
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
Treat the new bead gently when you clean: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Landlords and letting agents in Roughdown can book us as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for.
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
