About our bathroom resealing in Bury

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people get in touch are water getting behind the kitchen upstand and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt.

Around Bury, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

All our work comes with a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in West Sussex.

For landlords and businesses

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. We can quote for more than one property at once.

When to call us in Bury

Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that do not dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

Schools such as Bury CofE Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Bathroom resealing around Bury

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you let a flat or house near Amberley station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Bury is about 7 miles north of Littlehampton, in West Sussex. We carry out bathroom resealing for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Bury, as part of our work across West Sussex. Our area takes in 371 places across West Sussex, from the larger towns to small villages. There’s also a page for Brighton, about 20 miles away.

Every address in RH20 is within our area for bathroom resealing. You’ll find streets such as The Street, Houghton Lane and Coombe Crescent, all of which we cover. If you’re just outside Bury, we cover West Burton (1 mile north-west), Amberley (1 mile east), Watersfield (2 miles north), Cross Gate (2 miles east) and Coldwaltham (2 miles north-east). Further out, we also cover Horsham (15 miles north-east), Worthing (9 miles south-east), Bognor Regis (10 miles south-west), Chichester (11 miles south-west), Littlehampton (7 miles south) and Shoreham-by-Sea (14 miles east).

What sealant work can’t fix

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks

How the visit works

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. For a village or hamlet like Bury, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any tricky access
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Advice

Different surfaces, different methods

Baths

Acrylic baths give a little under load, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Common questions in Bury

Is Bury within the area you cover?

Yes, Bury is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

I let a flat near Amberley station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

Is it messy?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

There’s a choice: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We can help you pick when we quote.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes, we can. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. We cover Bury and the rest of West Sussex.

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start

Treat the new bead gently when you clean: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally won’t remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Should I try it myself first?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
