How we quote for bathroom resealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • The type of sealant required
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Roughly how big the job is

Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where. Photos by email help us understand the job.

How we handle bathroom resealing in Bramber

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Bramber. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, basins & vanity units and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are two layers of silicone, both failing and leaking joints on a shower screen.

Homes around Bramber are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Bramber and across West Sussex.

Bramber questions

Is Bramber within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you work for landlords with property near Shoreham-By-Sea station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do I have to be there?

It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. You will know how long to expect before work begins.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes. Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, and we are ARBOMaster approved applicators.

My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?

Yes, by replacing the sealant. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Good ventilation helps keep it away.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

How it works

Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. In a small place like Bramber, access is generally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Advice

For landlords and businesses

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Bramber homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Bramber. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.

Managing a site like Upper Beeding Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Rented homes near Shoreham-By-Sea station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use

Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Bramber?

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner take their toll over the years, and how long it lasts comes down to use, cleaning and ventilation.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Black spots spreading through the bead

In the older streets around The Parish Church of St Nicholas, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

10 questions to ask before you book

What the job involves on each surface

Wet rooms

A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Old sealant there often goes black at the corners, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
